Artist Klari Reis // The Daily Dish

I love science, although I am not good at math and always got average grades in the subject, I ALWAYS loved to go to class and learn as much as I could. The one thing that I loved most is the beautiful images in our books and of course doing the weekly experiments. So you can guess when I saw these... I fell in love!

Artist Klari Reis created these small and beautiful abstract paintings in a petri dish. She is currently making these little guys everyday! posting them on her website The Daily Dish.

This one below is one of my favorites! Please check out more of Klari's work here!

Everlasting Love

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite "holidays". It involves hearts, the color pink, flowers & chocolate... whats not to love!

I always try and make a little something every year for my friends and family... but this year I am behind. I thought of doing a paper craft ( I have been dabbling in collage ) but I can't think of anything super interesting, but in my search for a project I came across these paper flowers by Frances & Francis!

They are so sweet! and of course unlike real flowers these are everlasting.  I want the Angel Face Rose!

Thanks to The Artful Desperado for finding this treasure!

Spring 2013 Couture // Alexis Mabille

Theres nothing like Spring Couture! One of my favorites this season is Alexis Mabille. It's over the top,  girly and so beautiful.

I love the tulle and the Chantilly lace, it all seems so light! I could almost wear it to bed!

This lovely thing above it one of my favorites! The tiny flowers are just stunning, I can't get over the details!

DIY // Glittered Loafers

I haven't done a  DIY in a year, and I did this one in September but I just now got my photos off my camera! For some stupid reason my computer decided that it didn't want anything to do with downloading the images... ugh.

But! Now, you can see how I made these Miu Miu/Jimmy Choo inspired loafers!

Like everyone else in the blog-osphere I love glitter! And thought I would have a go at glittering my own shoes. And I am sure you are familiar with the process, Miss Geneva from a Pair and a Spare is an expert at applying glitter to a number of wonderful things. But I thought I would share what I did.... just in case you were wondering. :)

First things first the supplies are as follows:

1. a pair of cheapo loafers that you won't be afraid to mess up.

2. Glitter! ( I chose sliver and black glitter, to replicate those marvelous Jimmy Choo's

3. Mod Podge is a must! You will mix this with your glitter.

4. Silver Nail polish- So you can paint the heel of your shoes. ( or you can tape them off, and spray paint them... I was just being lazy. )

5. and finally some rhinestones to glue to your heels a la Miu Miu

1. Okay Step one! Paint your heels of your shoes, with silver nail polish, or like I mentioned before you can tape your shoes off and spray paint the heel. The reason for doing this is just so the rhinestones look like they are a part of the heel, instead of just glued there... which they are.

2. Next mix your glitter with some mod podge. I do one part glitter, one part mod podge.

3. Once glitter is mixed up, you can start painting the glitter/mod podge mixture onto the shoe.

4. My glitter was chunky, so you will more than likely have to do a second and maybe third touch up coat. But if you choose to do a finer glitter, it will take less coats.

5. AND FINALLY! Glue those rhinestones onto the heel! I used a cheap glue, cause I couldn't find my favorite E-6000 glue ( which I recommend using instead. )

Then go out and wear these bad boys!  And P.S. the photos don't do them justice. They are super sparkly! :)

Treasures

WHOA! It has been too long since I updated! It has been crazy! I had pneumonia and then the holidays snuck up and I haven't been able to take some time out to blog. I also get overwhelmed and can't think of a single thing to blog about... ugh.

I am trying to work on that. BUT I wanted to share a little something I did this last weekend that inspired me. My hubby and I went out on Saturday and hit up a little yard sale, I didn't get very far before I noticed that there was a pile of vintage glasses sitting on this blanket... and if you know me, I LOVE glasses. ( p.s. i did't always love them... i have wore them since kindergarden and pretty much hated life until the 7th grade when I got contacts. ) I bought the whole lot, for 5 bucks!

The cool thing is they are all in REALLY nice shape, and some are pretty expensive! I made out like a bandit! I can't wait to get a pair fitted with my prescription!

Frank Wishes You a Happy Halloween

Hope everyone has a fun, and safe Halloween. :) I know we aren't doing much, just drinking hot cider and watching Evil Dead. Should be fun!

And if you haven't noticed yet, this is an behind the scenes photograph of Frankenstein from 1931-1939. There are some really funny outtakes of Boris, smoking, drinking more tea and other regular guy things in costume. Be sure to check them out here.

Feeling a Little Dark

Tis the season to start wearing ALL black. I love all my bright clothes, but I always look forward to fall and wearing my every dark item I own. I am going to channel Emily Brontë with a splash of Lisbeth Salander.

Here are a few items that could help the transformation...

1. Nothing like a skull shaped bottle of Black Leaf Absinthe, to make your cocktail perfectly dark.

2. I have been coveting this Wedgewood tea cup forever! and want nothing more than to sip my Lady Grey from this baby.

3. This nail polish, Stormy Weather ( love the name! ) created by Narciso Rodriguez is a fabulous granite color.

4. This pocket watch fragrance by Modern Alchemy is perfect for the woman on the go, and it is SO beautiful!

5. When it comes to earrings, these are near perfection in my book. These Black Garnet studs are equal parts pretty and dark. I would wear these everyday.

6. Like Wuthering Heights, this Lanvin Buckle Strap Bootie, is timeless! You will never need to trade it in when trends change.

This sweet little egg cup would make my mornings infinitely better!

and dear lord that ring holder! Now all I need in this collection is a mug or a silly tea cup and saucer.
